We are a locally owned firm deeply rooted in the Spokane, Washington area and have many long-standing connections on our community. HISTORY

Our firm started out in the early 1980s as Heiskell & MacGillivray, when our founders, Doug Heiskell and Andy MacGillivray first hung out their shingle. Over the years, the ownership changed, and, since clients had a tough time spelling it anyway, in 2015 we updated our name to HMA CPA, PS. In recent years, we acquired four other existing firms: Engel & Associates, Dorendorf & Associates, Michael D. Caprye, CPA and Kavadias Group PLLC, bringing even greater strength and diversity to the skill set and experience of our staff. In December 2022, Eva M Weisenburger CPA PC was merged into HMA CPA, PS adding lines of service and amazing staff to better serve our clients. To acccomodate our expanding services, HMA moved to a larger location at 601 W 1st Avenue. There is more space to spread out and meet with our clients, and for our HMA staff to be a strong and cohesive team. HMA’s current owners are Kevin Sell, Laura Hays, Mike Whitmore and Kristi Bushnell.
